Now is the Time for Action

In Minnesota, there are about 2,700 people waiting for life-saving organ transplants. Lions can change that by engaging their local community to increase the number of registered donors. Organ donation is a generous, selfless gift and just one donor can save and heal 75 lives. We are honored to fulfill the decision of people in our community to restore sight through eye donation.

About Lions Save Lives Campaign

Lions Save Lives is an initiative by Lions Gift of Sight and Donate Life Minnesota to increase the number of registered organ, eye and tissue donors. Lions Clubs are the heart and soul of this campaign, and we can’t do it without the Lions

Why Lions?

The Minnesota Lions first formed a partnership with the University of Minnesota’s Department of Ophthalmology in 1960 when they established the Minnesota Lions Eye Bank, now Lions Gift of Sight. Lions are influential leaders in their communities and their actions and service inspires others.

In Minnesota, Lions Clubs International members represent some of the state’s most dedicated volunteers. There are more than 20,000 Lions club members in Minnesota and more than 600 Lions clubs statewide.  Learn more about our partnership with the Minnesota Lions.

Many factors determine whether or not a person meets donation criteria, but most people can be donors

Some things that do not necessarily prevent one from being a donor include age, cataracts, prior surgeries (including laser eye surgery), most cancers and poor vision.

Feel free to contact us if you have questions about a specific condition and its impact on donation.
