Eye, tissue, and organ donation organizations collaborate with families and professional partners to facilitate the donation process as smoothly and as quickly as possible. This collaboration assures that Centers for Medicare and Medicaid statutes and Food & Drug Administration requirements for tissue safety are met. Your support assures the legally-designated wishes of donors and families in your care are fulfilled.
We are deeply grateful for your partnership with us to serve donors and donor families who wish to give the gift of sight. Mortuary Science Continuing Education
Effective January 1, 2024, morticians and funeral directors licensed in Minnesota may earn one CEU when observing Lions Gift of Sight recovery staff perform a whole eye or cornea recovery at your facility.
CEUs are provided at no cost.
To request a CEU session, inform our donor coordination staff during case coordination. Alternatively, please inform LGS recovery staff upon their arrival (and before) the recovery process begins.
Learning objectives with best practices demonstrated may include:
- Occupational safety
- Sterile / non-sterile procedures
- Body exam and documentation
- Serology specimens
- FDA requirements including body identification and cooling
